Alan Nash, Winner of the Volunteers in Sport Awards 2024.

We are proud to celebrate Alan Nash, one of the 35 outstanding volunteers honoured by the 2024 Volunteers in Sport Awards hosted by the Federation of Irish Sport. Alan’s remarkable contributions to our club and community over the past 25 years have made him a true pillar of Irish sports and a deserving recipient of this prestigious recognition.

As a founding member of our club, Alan has been instrumental in shaping our ethos and driving its growth. His visionary leadership and tireless dedication have inspired countless individuals, particularly women and young girls, to embrace Gaelic games. Through his coaching of underage girls’ football and the introduction of the innovative “Mothers and Others” initiative into our club and community, Alan has fostered inclusivity, teamwork, and a love for sport across all ages.

Alan’s role as Ladies Football Development Officer has been transformative. Under his guidance and leadership, female participation in Gaelic games has tripled, with some teams now boasting 45 members. His efforts have not only expanded opportunities for women in sports but have also created a legacy of empowerment and community spirit.

Beyond coaching, Alan’s contributions are vast and varied. As a referee for all Gaelic games codes, he officiates at club, provincial, and national levels. He volunteers daily, dedicating his time to fundraising, event organisation, and the club’s day-to-day operations. From organising player award nights to stepping up at community events like the Christmas light switch-on, Alan’s selflessness and dedication know no bounds.

Alan’s impact extends far beyond the pitch. His passion for sport and community has left an indelible mark, inspiring others to follow in his footsteps. This award is a fitting tribute to a man who has given so much of himself to enrich the lives of others.

Congratulations, Alan, on this well-deserved honour. Your unwavering commitment, vision, and generosity have made you a true champion of Irish sport and a beacon of volunteerism. Recognising Alan with this award is recognising a lifetime of selflessness and dedication. Thank you for all that you do for our club and community!
